ESEA Creatives

Deadline: 30 April 2026 at 23:00

Paid opportunity for ESEA creatives in Scotland: dancers, filmmakers, costume designers and composers invited to collaborate on an interdisciplinary dance film exploring identity and belonging.

ESEA Creatives is seeking East and Southeast Asian (ESEA) artists based in Scotland to collaborate on Moving Between Worlds, an interdisciplinary dance film exploring identity, belonging, cultural expectation and individuality through movement, sound and visual storytelling.

This project reflects on experiences of navigating different cultural environments, particularly within ESEA diaspora contexts. Themes include emotional expression, cultural definitions of success, tradition, and finding personal voice within collective structures.

We are currently inviting expressions of interest from creatives working in the following areas: Dance, Videography / filmmaking, Costume design, Composition / sound design / producing music

The work will be developed through a collaborative process, allowing selected artists to contribute to shaping the artistic direction.

This is a paid opportunity, with fees aligned to industry standards and project scope. Participants will be paid at a rate of £200 per day. The number of days will vary depending on their level of involvement, ranging from a single shoot day to up to four days for those in more extended roles.
Travel and access costs can be supported where required.

Eligibility
This opportunity centres lived experiences connected to East and Southeast Asian identities. We are therefore inviting applications from artists who identify as having East and Southeast Asian heritage, including those from diaspora communities, who are currently based in Scotland.

We recognise identity is complex and personal, and applicants are welcome to self-define their relationship to ESEA identity in a way that feels appropriate to them.

Key dates
Application deadline: 30 April 2026
Notification of outcome: Early – Mid May 2026
Development and filming period: Late May – July 2026

Accessibility
We welcome alternative submission formats where written applications present a barrier, including video, audio or informal conversation.
