British-Ghanaian and Neurodivergent, Yasmine is a spoken-word poet who writes plays. Through rhythm, lyricism, nostalgia and play, her work explores how resistance, mainly through identity-based discrimination such as racism and anti-blackness, can be a springboard for exploring everyday rituals of joy. Recently, she has developed a curiosity in vocal looping and is keen to explore how the voice can act as an instrument to create melodies in the realm of music and gig theatre. She is a recent graduate of the Writing for Performance BA at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and is currently a Boundless Accelerator Artist.
Yasmine was a Round 3 recipient of the 2022/3 Francis Chagrin Awards.
