Blending elements of Broken Beat and Dancehall into his own off-kilter take on electronic music, Manchester based producer Murder He Wrote’s playful productions and edits have been destroying clubs worldwide. Originally breaking out via a flurry of releases on the RKS imprint, MHW’s tracks have gained support from a diverse range of respected tastemakers including Jamz Supernova, DJ EZ, Toddla T and Tom Ravenscroft.
2020 highlights include the release of two collaborations with UK Funky legend Roska and an eclectic run of self released singles – amassing over 500,000 Spotify streams and support across BBC Radio 1 and 6Music.
In June 2021 James received one of Sound and Music’s COVID-19 Composer Awards:
“I’m so grateful to receive this grant. Being an independent musician isn’t necessarily easy at the best of times but the last year especially made it financially impossible to actually invest any money back into my music. To receive this grant is really special for that reason but also it’s such a nice confidence boost to have Sound and Music take an interest and support my music. Thank you!”
