Tylor is a British/Bajan, queer + working class artist creating under the pseudonym illyr.
They are a self taught singer, songwriter and record producer, and released their first music EP with coverage from Pitchfork and a live streamed performance through Dazed + NTSRadio (June 2017). They also make films, choreograph + are a performance artist. They have recently been on a 3 month artist residency at Palm Heights Cayman Islands hosted by Something Curated 2022, which has also been attended by Eartheater, Kelsey Lu and Solange. They have received Funding from Arts Council for their EP and film project which will be released in 2022.
In 2021 Jacob Samuel, former Somerset House resident artist, and Tylor have started collaborating making music, film and teaching dance workshops. Jacob is the creative partner and produces with illyr.
As a movement director and choreographer they have worked with Goldfrapp, Tirzah, Vogue Italia, Harvey Causon, Reebok, Jools Holland, Sophie Cundale for Film and Video Umbrella and ICA’s Stop Play Record. As a dancer they have worked for Holly Blakey, Mica Levi, Vivienne Westwood and Jeremy Deller in both live theatre and film.
In January 2020 they produced, curated, marketed and performed in Dragon T with their partner Lewis Walker – launched as a live performance platform which raised £2k for Stonewall Housing.
