JP Waksman is a British/French composer and producer living in Scotland. Their love of music stems from a desire to blend classical instrumentation and techniques with electronics, beats and sampling. JP’s resulting unique and intensely emotive sound has led their music to be performed around the world, and commissions from numerous agencies and production companies including The BBC. As a non-binary asexual musician, JP draws on their background to explore emotion and atmosphere through lyrical melodies, harsh beats, and beautiful delicate ambience. They currently release their own music alongside their work in media composition.
In July 2021 JP received one of Sound and Music’s COVID-19 Composer Awards:
“Being chosen for this award means so much after such a year of turmoil and difficulty. It’s validating and encouraging and, most of all, will help me implement the skills I have learnt during the pandemic and collaborate with other creatives.”
