Looking to refresh your ideas and strategies for composing with secondary-aged students? The Listen Imagine Compose partnership has a new series of free, monthly, professional development events!

Starting on Tuesday 26th January, we will be offering twilight sessions via Zoom covering practical ideas for composing, music technology, decolonising the curriculum and much more.

The first session includes our usual combination of presentations, reflections and practical ideas and will celebrate the launch of Creative and Critical Projects in Classroom Music.  Authors John Finney and Gary Spruce will introduce the book’s themes and explain why the work of John Paynter (whose seminal book Sound and Silence is now 50 years old) is still relevant today. We will also explore some of the practical classroom projects included in the book, with presentations from BCMG’s Nancy Evans and secondary music teachers Elizabeth Hastings-Clarke and Rebecca Lewis.

If you’re a secondary school teacher looking to refine your approach to composing in the classroom, be sure to sign up for this session, or read more about our upcoming sessions.
