London Youth Folk Ensemble and friends will take over Cecil Sharp House at our annual showcase for young musicians.

For our London Youth Folk Ensemble and Friends concert, we’re excited to be welcoming ensembles from across the country as part of our annual showcase for young musicians.

London Youth Folk Ensemble (LYFE) is led by Maya McCourt and Aaron Horlock, and brings together committed young folk musicians to create and perform folk music from England and beyond.

Devon Youth Folk Ensemble play folk tunes with a focus on the Westcountry. All aged between 13 and 18, members come from across the south west to play together and learn the techniques of folk music. They choose and arrange their tunes, and the group is run in a collaborative way with their leader Jon Dyer (Gadarene, Crowdy-Kit). Devon Youth Folk Ensemble is a Wren Music project, supported by the Devon and Torbay Music Education Hub.

From the network of Ark schools, comprising talented young instrumentalists and singers, London based Fusion is an orchestra with a twist: bringing together instrumentalists of any background or level of experience, and working across cultures & genres. Expect anything from classical music to afrobeats!
